What exactly is a French balcony?
French balcony railings serve as fall protection for floor-to-ceiling windows, thus fulfilling safety-relevant functions while simultaneously enhancing the appearance of the facade. The balcony can also be constructed with a platform. The fall height is regulated by the respective building codes of the federal states. As a rule, this is 90 cm up to a height of 12 m and 110 cm above.

How do I choose the right balcony in terms of height and material?
We offer our French balconies in heights of 100cm or 110cm.
Choose between three material options: stainless steel, galvanized steel, or galvanized steel with subsequent powder coating and your choice of color. Any RAL color is possible.
The handrails for the galvanized and powder-coated balconies can also be ordered in stainless steel. A stainless steel handrail significantly enhances the appearance, is pleasant to the touch, and easy to clean. The French balconies made of stainless steel are constructed from V2A stainless steel, with a 240 grit finish. In coastal areas, we recommend choosing the higher-grade and more corrosion-resistant V4A stainless steel to prevent rust and corrosion.
How do we manufacture your French balcony?
French balconies are manufactured according to customer specifications; simply enter the fixing distance in mm into the configurator.
All connections are welded joints, which are professionally executed according to DIN 1090.
What mounting options do I have?
There are three different mounting options available: mounting on the exterior wall, mounting in the reveal, and mounting directly on the window. However, mounting on the window frame should also be clarified with the window manufacturer.
How can I install the French balconies?
Installation is straightforward; the balcony railings can easily be installed yourself. We also offer the appropriate mounting hardware in our shop; order the appropriate fixing kit depending on your wall type. For exterior insulation and full thermal insulation, we offer special mounting hardware and fixing kits. We are happy to provide instructions for installing the railing.

Französische Balkongeländer dienen als Geländer zur Absturzsicherung für bodentiefe Fenster. Ein französischer Balkon ist also kein Balkon im klassischen Sinne. Der Name führt auf die Pariser Architektur zurück, wo man trotz dichter Bebauung und schmaler Straßen nicht auf Licht und frische Luft verzichten wollte. Französische Balkone erfüllen somit sicherheitsrelevante Funktionen, zugleich werten sie die Optik der Fassade auf.
Da die Austrittsfläche meist nur wenige Zentimeter tief ist, ist er also nicht begehbar und bietet keinen Platz für Tisch oder Stühle. Seine Hauptaufgabe ist es, viel Tageslicht in den Raum zu lassen und bei geöffnetem Fenster für maximale Sicherheit zu sorgen. Er ist die perfekte Lösung für alle, die eine offene Atmosphäre lieben, aber keinen Platz für einen ausladenden Vorbau haben.
Ja, in den meisten Fällen ist eine Genehmigung erforderlich, da die Montage eines französischen Balkons das äußere Erscheinungsbild des Gebäudes verändert.
- Neubau: Hier ist er meist bereits Teil der Baugenehmigung.
- Nachrüstung: Wenn der französische Balkon nachträglich angebracht wird, sollte man sich beim örtlichen Bauamt über die geltende Landesbauordnung informieren.
- Eigentumswohnungen: Hier muss zusätzlich die Zustimmung der Eigentümergemeinschaft (WEG) eingeholt werden, damit die Fassadenoptik einheitlich bleibt.
Die Montage ist mit drei Methoden möglich: Entweder wird das Geländer an der Außenwand, in der Laibung oder direkt am Fenster befestigt. Die Wahl der Befestigung hängt stark von der Beschaffenheit der Wand ab. Wichtig ist hierbei die Verwendung von zugelassenen Montagesets und Schwerlastankern, damit die Konstruktion auch bei hoher Belastung absolut sicher hält. Die Montage am Fensterrahmen muss zudem vorab auch mit dem Hersteller des Fensters abgeklärt werden.
Absolut. Das ist seine wichtigste technische Funktion. Er dient dazu, Personen vor einem Sturz aus dem bodentiefen Fenster zu bewahren. Damit er diese Aufgabe erfüllt, gibt es strikte gesetzliche Vorgaben zur Geländerhöhe.
In der Regel muss das Geländer bei einer Absturzhöhe von bis zu 12 Metern mindestens 90 cm hoch sein. Befindet sich das Fenster in einem höheren Stockwerk, ist meist eine Mindesthöhe von 110 cm vorgeschrieben. Zudem dürfen die Abstände zwischen den Stäben nicht so groß sein (meist maximal 12 cm).
