Benches, tables, and seating groups made of metal and wood – Outdoor furniture from Kirchberger Metall
Outdoor benches and tables are a central element of landscape architecture, urban planning, and private garden design. As benches, park benches, garden benches, tables, and complete seating groups, they create social meeting places in parks, schoolyards, company premises, and gardens. Kirchberger Metall manufactures this outdoor furniture by hand in Germany, combining weather-resistant metal frames with durable woods to create particularly robust, low-maintenance seating groups.
Materials: Wood comparison
The type of wood determines appearance and natural resistance. The following woods are used depending on the model:
- Bangkirai: tropical hardwood with very high density, extremely weather and load resistant – ideal for heavily used seating surfaces in public spaces.
- Larch: native conifer with high resin content, particularly dimensionally stable; develops a silvery-grey protective patina when untreated.
- Douglas fir: native, robust conifer with good natural resistance and warm coloring.
- Spruce: light, easy-to-work conifer; impregnated or glazed for outdoor use.
Metal frames: Corrosion protection and surfaces
The load-bearing sub-constructions consist of rust-proof stainless steel or robust steel in two surface variants:
- Stainless steel, brushed: rust-proof, high-quality, and particularly low-maintenance – timeless, elegant appearance.
- Steel, hot-dip galvanized: industrial look and most effective protection against corrosion, insensitive to mechanical stress.
- Steel, powder-coated (RAL 7016, Anthracite Grey): modern architectural standard that combines excellently with stone and glass facades.
Fully assembled, Made in Germany and certified
Many models are delivered fully assembled – on-site assembly is eliminated, saving time and setting them apart from disassembled mass-produced goods. Production is handcrafted in Germany (Made in Germany) according to the welding standard DIN EN 1090. Delivery within Germany is free of charge.
Variety of seating solutions and seating groups
Design and features vary depending on the location and duration of stay:
- Benches with and without backrests: models with backrests maximize seating comfort for longer stays, minimalist benches without backrests are accessible from both sides and space-saving.
- Outdoor tables and seating groups: coordinated units of bench and table ensure a harmonious design language and ergonomic heights (ideally 72–75 cm table height for 45 cm seat height).
Dimensions, ergonomics, and areas of application
Common benches are approximately 200 cm wide, offer space for 3 to 4 people at a seat height of 45 cm, and are designed for intensive continuous use. The connections between metal and wood are designed to prevent waterlogging – this supports constructive wood protection. Dimensions, material combinations, and surfaces can be individually defined using technical configurators. The benches and tables are used in parks and public spaces, in municipalities, schools and daycare centers, on company premises and in gastronomy, as well as in private gardens and on terraces.
Questions and Answers
