Well-stored firewood needs three things: airflow from all sides, clearance from ground moisture and a designated place. That’s exactly what the firewood racks from Kirchberger Metall are designed for: durable wood stores made from weather-resistant Corten steel or powder-coated steel, manufactured in Germany.

Why choose a metal firewood rack?

The open design allows air to circulate freely around the logs. This helps the wood dry evenly and reach the residual moisture content of under 20 percent recommended for clean combustion. Clearance from the ground protects against rising damp, while the sturdy steel frame keeps even large quantities of wood securely in place – turning a loose pile into a neat stack that’s ready to use.

Corten steel: weather-resistant with an elegant rust patina

Corten steel develops its characteristic rust-brown patina within a few weeks of exposure to the air. This protective layer prevents rust from penetrating the steel, so a Corten steel wood store can be left outdoors in the garden or on the patio all year round. Its warm, weathered finish pairs perfectly with wood, greenery and modern garden architecture.

Powder-coated steel for indoor use

For a spot right next to the fireplace or stove, we also offer the FRAME model in powder-coated steel in deep black. The coating is scratch-resistant and easy to care for – ideal for living spaces where the stack of logs becomes a feature in its own right.

Choosing the right size and location

Our wood stores meet every need, from a compact 70 cm-wide rack to slim models one metre wide and large formats measuring 150 cm wide and 180 cm high. We recommend choosing a location that is as sunny and well ventilated as possible. During the first few weeks as the patina forms, Corten steel may release some rust-colored water in the rain – placing a mat underneath can help protect light-colored patio paving at first.
