The load capacity and mechanical resistance of a double-bar mat fence are primarily defined by the chosen wire gauges. These are usually indicated in numerical triplets, such as 5:4:5, 6:5:6, 6:6:6, 6:8:6, or 8:6:8. The meaning of these figures is technically defined:
