Smoking Shelter R10 2.0 – free-standing smoking shelter for up to 10 people, including concrete foundation

The Smoking Shelter R10 2.0 from the RX 2.0 series creates a clearly defined, weather-protected smoking area on your company premises – and keeps entrances, facades and green areas free of cigarette litter. The shelter is delivered fully assembled at the factory on a concrete foundation slab and set down by crane truck directly at its final position. Costly groundwork and foundation work are not required, and setting it down usually takes around 30 minutes.

Aluminum construction with Seaside coating

The uprights and roof frame are made from extruded aluminum profiles with a recycled content of around 80 percent. The powder coating in DB 703 micaceous iron oxide is executed in Seaside quality: it is designed for the higher corrosion load found at coastal and industrial sites, and its anti-graffiti properties make it harder for paint to adhere. Aluminum does not rust, so the structure stays permanently maintenance-free – no repainting, no re-galvanizing.

Roof and drainage

The flat roof is built as a sandwich construction and powder-coated pure white RAL 9010 on both the top and the underside. The light-colored surface reflects sunlight and the double skin acts as insulation – in summer the interior heats up noticeably less than in single-skin shelters. A continuous gutter in the roof frame collects rainwater and carries it away through a stainless steel strainer, concealed inside the corner posts. The outlet ends above ground, just above the foundation slab: no connection to the sewer system, no visible downpipes, nothing that can freeze or clog.

Glazing and wind protection

7 panes of 8 mm toughened safety glass are linearly supported in clamping profiles. The side walls are vertical and have no gaps, so no draft channel forms close to the ground. Two smoking symbols on the front panes mark the area unmistakably. If you would like more privacy or a more uniform appearance, select the privacy decor in ceramic screen printing in the configurator.

Delivery, installation and on-site preparation

Manufacturing takes place in Germany, and shipping is from our plant in North Rhine-Westphalia. The complete unit consisting of shelter and foundation slab is delivered. All you need to prepare on site is a level, compacted bed of sand or gravel and access that a 40-ton crane truck can drive on. Whether a building permit is required for installation depends on the state building code and on the individual municipality – please clarify this in advance with the responsible building authority. Because the shelter is not anchored into the ground, it can be moved to a different location at any time by crane or forklift.

Before delivery, the truck delivery checklist helps you check access, turning circle and set-down area.

Companies, public authorities and public-sector clients can purchase on account. If you have questions about choosing a location, about site access or about the right size, we are happy to advise you in advance.

Questions and Answers

A professional smoking shelter enables clean spatial separation in accordance with non-smoker protection laws without compromising the comfort of employees or guests. It also keeps the company premises clean, as it provides a central gathering point and minimizes uncontrolled littering.

The series comprises four fixed sizes: R6, R10, R12 and R15 for up to 6, 10, 12 and 15 people respectively. All four have the same construction – posts and roof frame made of extruded aluminum profiles in DB 703 iron mica, wall surfaces of 8 mm toughened safety glass, flat roof in sandwich construction. They differ only in floor area and in the number of glass panels.

You are free to choose the lighting, the privacy decor in ceramic screen printing and the delivery zone; both are taken into account at the factory. Special widths, a different number of side walls or open versions are not available within this series. If you are looking for an open canopy, you will find one in the Köln or Passau steel construction ranges.

The smallest model, the R6, measures 2,730 × 1,620 mm; together with the concrete foundation slab of 3,000 × 1,500 mm this gives a footprint of around 4.5 m². It therefore fits on most leftover and peripheral areas, for example next to employee parking spaces or at the rear of the building.

What matters more than the area itself is the access route: the shelter is delivered fully assembled and set down by crane truck. The installation site must be reachable for a 40-tonne vehicle and freely accessible for the crane boom. Because the shelter is not anchored into the ground, it can be moved to another spot at any time by crane or forklift.

Lighting and privacy decor are installed at the factory. You select both directly in the product options so that they are taken into account during production: available are an LED light bar, a surface-mounted solar light, a solar light recessed into the roof and a privacy decor in ceramic screen printing.

Available separately are benches with an aluminum or wooden-slat seat, EPSI 2.0 ashtray tables with or without a lock, the Smoke-Table Design Line standing smokers' table, leaning benches in 1,000 and 1,500 mm, Kip-Ex stainless steel wall ashtrays, an infrared patio heater with a timer module and a green roof that can be combined with a solar system.

No. The shelters of the RX 2.0 series leave the factory fully assembled and are set down on the prepared ground by crane truck – this usually takes around 30 minutes. On-site assembly is not needed at all, and neither is concreting a foundation.

All you need to prepare on site is a level, compacted bed of sand or gravel and an access route for a 40-tonne vehicle. We are happy to advise you in advance on choosing the location, checking the access route and selecting the right size; you will find a checklist for truck delivery on every product page. Electrical connections for lighting or patio heaters are made on site by a qualified electrician.

The optimal size depends on your desired site capacity and the required level of protection. In practice, around 0.5 to 1 square meter of space per person is usually calculated for a comfortable standing spot.

There are four sizes, all 2,280 mm high. The R6 measures 2,730 × 1,620 mm for up to 6 people and weighs around 2,500 kg including the foundation. The R10 measures 3,950 × 1,620 mm for up to 10 people at around 3,000 kg. The R12 measures 2,730 × 2,250 mm for up to 12 people at around 3,500 kg. The R15 measures 3,950 × 2,250 mm for up to 15 people at around 4,000 kg.

In each case the concrete foundation slab is slightly larger than the shelter and determines the footprint required. The capacity figures refer to a short stay in a standing position.

Transport and installation are charged according to the distance between our plant and your site. You simply enter your postal code on the product page – the applicable distance tier is determined automatically and the delivery price is immediately included in the price shown. There are five tiers, from 200 to 1,000 kilometers. If your site lies beyond that, we calculate the transport individually. If you collect the shelter yourself, the transport costs are dropped entirely; we arrange the pickup address and date after the order. Larger shelters with a width of 3,950 mm fall into a higher freight tier than the narrow models because of their transport width.

No. The smoking shelters of the RX 2.0 series are delivered fully assembled on a reinforced concrete foundation slab, which is part of the scope of delivery. All you need to provide on site is a level, compacted bed of sand or gravel. There is no need for excavation work, strip foundations or concreting on site. Because the shelter is not anchored into the ground, it can be relocated later by crane or forklift.

That depends on the state building code, the size of the shelter and the location. In several German federal states, free-standing canopies are exempt from approval up to a certain roofed area or enclosed volume; in commercial zones and for structures on the property line, additional requirements often apply. Because the shelter is set up without ground anchoring and can be relocated at any time, it frequently falls under simplified rules. Only the responsible building authority can give binding information – please clarify this in advance.

A continuous gutter runs around the roof frame. The water is collected through a stainless steel strainer and carried downward concealed inside the corner posts. The outlet ends above ground, above the foundation slab. A connection to the sewer system is not required, and there are no visible downpipes.
