Shield Metal Fence: Steel Sheet Panels, Planned to Your Length

Shield consists of steel sheet panels and slim 40 x 40 mm square posts. The panels are 1.5 mm thick, laser-cut, pre-galvanized, and have a 35 mm deep folded edge. Posts and panels alternate. This way, the fence grows panel by panel until the desired length is reached.

You have three designs to choose from. Privacy is solid and keeps prying eyes out. Line has horizontal slots, while Decor features a pattern of circles in different sizes. Each design is available with a panel height of 90 or 110 cm.

How to Plan Your Shield Fence

  1. Layout and design: straight, around corners, or in individual fence sections, plus length, height, and design.
  2. Mounting: The posts stand on base plates and are anchored with wall plugs. If desired, stainless steel caps from the premium set replace the plastic caps.
  3. Parts list: The planner lists panels, posts, and profiles with quantities. We use this to create your quote.

If the length doesn't add up: the filler piece

Panel A is 1250 mm long, panel B 900 mm, and each post requires 40 mm. The planner combines both sizes and avoids cutting wherever possible. If there is a remainder at the end, cut one panel to size, drill the holes, and screw on profiles A and B. The calculation example from the manufacturer's catalog: For a fence length of 4.40 m, two A panels, one B panel, and an 800 mm filler piece add up exactly to the required dimension.

After sawing, the cut edge is bare metal. Touch it up with zinc spray before installing the filler piece. Read why this matters in our guide Corrosion Protection in Metal Construction.

What to Look Out For During Installation

Each post stands on an 8 mm thick base plate with 11 mm diameter holes. For the straight post, it measures 100 x 40 mm and has two holes; for the corner post, it measures 100 x 100 mm with four holes. The posts are anchored to a foundation, concrete slab, or plinth wall. On a wall coping, the wall plugs need clearance from the edge. Therefore, do not plan the wall too narrow and choose anchors that are suitable for the substrate. Screws and wall plugs are not supplied by the manufacturer. You can find suitable anchors under Base Plates, Anchors & Screws.

Questions and Answers

Drei.

Paneel A ist 1250 mm lang, Paneel B 900 mm, jeder Pfosten braucht 40 mm. Zwei Paneele A mit drei Pfosten ergeben also 2620 mm.
